This specimen was lot 1231 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 35 (Winter Park, FL, May 2024), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Medellín, 1/2 décimo, 1868, NGC MS 65, finest known in NGC census. Choice luster and full details (rims slightly crude, as made), in fact superior to Eldorado's PCGS MS64 for this desirable first date of silver issued from the Medellín mint. Pedigreed to the Gregorio Toulemonde Collection (stated on label)." This type was emitted by Bogotá 1868-71, Medellin 1868-72 (shown here) and Popayán 1868-78 with Popayán being the most common.
