Sincona sale 97, lot 1160

This specimen was lot 1160 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$399 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA Volksrepublik. 10 Yuan 1994, Shanghai Mint. Panda. Grosse Jahreszahl. FDC. In Originalverschweissung. (Peoples Republic of China, ten yuan of 1994, Shanghai mint, panda series, Large date, Mint State, In original capsule.)" The proofs were mintmarked with a "P" in a circle. Other ten yuan for 1994 included KM 522, 526, 527, 528, KM 616, KM 623, 642, KM 643, 651, 652, 654, 655, 656, 657, 662, 663, KM 671, 673, KM 675, 676, 686, 690, 691, 692, 693, 701, A623 and KM A625. China's deluge of NCLT's was well underway in 1994. Many of the early ones sold poorly and are now scarce.

Recorded mintage: 55,182 plus proofs.

Specification: 3.11 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.100 troy oz AGW.
