This specimen was lot 41324 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 2 Mariengroschen, 1784-CES. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand. PCGS AU-55. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type, the smallest denomination struck in good silver, was struck 1781-86 and 1789 and is common. It was worth one eighteenth of a thaler.
