This specimen was lot 2511 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRUNSWICK-WOLFENBÜTTEL: Karl II Wilhelm Ferdinand, 1780-1806, AE pfennig, 1785, a wonderful example, PCGS graded MS64 BN." This type was struck for the duke 1780-1806 and is common. It shows the old spelling of "pfenning" instead of the modern "pfennig". Another pfenning exists with a wild man reverse (KM 996).
