This specimen was lot 41323 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 4 Mariengroschen, 1789-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand. PCGS MS-62. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type, the second smallest denomination struck in good silver, was struck 1787-89 and is common. It was worth one ninth of a thaler.
