This specimen was lot 30069 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elusive in this Condition Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand Harz-gold Ducat 1788 MC, MS63 NGC. Obv. Crowned arms. Rev. Date and value. Mirrored fields combine with boldly defined devices to make this a pleasing Mint State example. Quite rare in this condition. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." This type is listed for 1784-1801 but is rare.
