This specimen was lot 55624 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg. Taler, 1677-RB. Zellerfeld Mint. Johann Friedrich. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." Johann Friedrich was duke 1665-79. This type was struck 1677-79 and is very scarce. Other thalers of 1677 include KM 150/Dav-6580, rare; and KM 173/Dav-6552 (leaping stallion), rare.
