This specimen was lot 73547 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1674. Zellerfeld Mint. Johann Friedrich. PCGS AU-50. Light argent surfaces mellowed by champagne toning and time. Evenly struck though with reverse softness opposite the Wild Man figure. Very rare. We are aware of only two auction appearances in the last 22 years for examples of this one year type. Attractive and highly desirable. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Includes ticket from Kuenker."
