This specimen was lot 654 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €380 (about US$512 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Johann Friedrich, 1665-1679. 12 Mariengroschen 1672, Clausthal. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg, John Frederick, 1665-79, 12 mariengroschen of 1672, Clausethal mint. Proof example, about uncirculated.)"
This type of 1668-73 is fairly common. Other issues of this denomination (which equaled one-third thaler) for 1672 include KM 136, 137 and 138.
