Jean Elsen sale 155, lot 1469

This specimen was lot 1469 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €60 (about US$79 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), Cu gigot (duit), 1616, Bois-le-Duc. D/ Ecu couronné. R/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, copper gigot or duit of 1616, Bois-le-Duc mint. Obverse: crowned arms; reverse: Burgundian cross under a crown. Very Fine.)"

A gigot or duit was half a liard and this coin is catalogued as a half liard in the SCWC. It was struck 1615-16 at Bois-le-Duc and also at Antwerp, Maastricht and Brussels.
