Brabant 1614(t) 1/2 patard
This specimen was lot 932 in Jean Elsen sale 143 (Brussels, December 2019), where it sold for €130 (about US$170 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), billon demi-patard, 1614, Bois-le-Duc. D/ Croix avec le monogramme AE en coeur, dans un quadrilobe. R/ Armes des archiducs en plein champ. Rare. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, billon half patard of 1614, Bois-le-Duc mint. Obverse: Cross in quadrilobe with AE monogram at the center; reverse: arms of the archdukes in a plain field. Rare, Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1614-19 at Antwerp, Brussels and Bois-le-Duc. It accompanied a patard (KM 42). The mintmark for Bois-le-Duc ("duke's wood") was a tree, visible here at the top of the obverse.
