Sincona Auction 103, lot 31

This specimen was lot 31 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$762 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIEN Brabant, Herzogtum, Albert und Isabella, 1598-1621. 1/4 Patagon 1616, Brüssel. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. Reste von Zaponlack. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, quarter patagon of 1616, Brussels mint. Very rare, About Extremely Fine, Attractively toned, Some lacquer residue.)"

This type was struck 1612, 1616-20 and undated from Antwerp (shown here), Bois-le-Duc, Tournai and Brussels. Undated examples are the majority of survivors.

Specification: 7.03 g, 0.875 fine silver, 32 mm diameter, this specimen 6.80 g.
