Colombia 1871M 2 pesos rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck at the Medellín mint 1871-72 and 1876. Except for a very rare issue of 1885, it was the last two pesos gold piece. Fortunately, it is reasonably common and available for a price. The multiple die breaks and repunched letters are typical of this coinage.

Recorded mintage: 66,000.

Specification: 3.23 g, .900 fine gold, .093 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM A154, Fr-106.
