The specimen shown was lot 1628 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $2,070. The catalog description[1] noted, "1863 2 pesos. Medellin mint. Head of Liberty to left, ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA in legends around, date below/value and date in wreath. Highly lustrous yellow gold with reflective surfaces on both sides. A tiny area of toning is present below cheek. An especially choice example of this rare one year type. Only 2,996 pieces were struck, all at the Medellin mint. From Stack's sale of the Col. James W. Flanagan Collection, March 1944, Lot 514." A later type (KM A154, struck 1871-76, see 1871-M 2 pesos) is much more available.
