This specimen was lot 1625 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $5,060. The catalog description[1] noted, "1863 20 pesos. Bogotá mint. MS-62 (NGC). Types as above. Bright and lustrous yellow gold with some reflectivity in the fields and only minor handling marks. A choice example for the type, far finer than usually seen on this easily damaged and very scarce type. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." This type was struck at Bogotá 1862-77, Medellin 1867-72 and Popayán 1863-78. Despite the steady issue, the type is rare and expensive.
