Ponterio sale 159, lot 9169

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is rare, not priced in the SCWC. This specimen was lot 9169 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1878-DoB. EXTREMELY RARE date and one of the finest known. Lightly cleaned. VERY FINE.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
