Regensburg (1745-53)-ILO 1/4 thaler KM-278
This specimen was lot 3260 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €600 (about US$787 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FRANZ I., 1745-1765. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Franz I. vor der österreichisch-bayerischen Münzkonvention vom 21. September 1753. ¼ Reichstaler o. J. (1745-1765), mit Titel von Franz I. Münzmeister Johann Christoph Busch. Stempelschneider Johann Leonhard Oexlein. Mit Stadtansicht. Beckenbauer 6338; Slg. Bach (Auktion Künker 238) 4828. RR Felder der Rückseite leicht bearbeitet, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, undated quarter thaler struck in the name of Francis I before the Austro-Bavarian monetary convention of September 1753, with city view. Very rare, reverse field tooled, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This quarter thaler accompanied another (KM 277) with the city arms on the reverse. The SCWC notes that this was struck using dies cut for the triple ducat.
