Künker sale 263, lot 567

This specimen was lot 567 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ANHALT-KÖTHEN, HERZOGTUM Heinrich, 1830-1847. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1840. R Nur 3.100 Exemplare geprägt. Feine Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Anhalt-Cothen, Henry, 1830-47, double union thaler of 1840. Scarce, 3,100 minted, fine patina, tiny planchet flaws, choice extremely fine.)"

This is the only double thaler from this locale. Anhalt-Kothen passed to Anhalt-Dessau after the death of Heinrich in 1847.
