Mexico 1882-Pi MH 8 reales

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71266

This specimen was lot 71266 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $204. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1882-Pi MH. Potosi Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. An enchanting cap and ray 8 Reales from a normally weakly struck mint. This example is quite nice with resplendent mint luster." This is a common date. The SCWC reports an 1882/1 overdate but awards it no premium. Assayer MH is listed for 1880-85.
