CNG Lissner sale, lot 1483

This specimen was lot 1483 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $393.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Estados Unidos de Colombia. 1863-1886. AR 1/2 Decimo. Bogotá mint. Dated 1871. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 62. Lovely toned uncirculated with slight planchet defect above forehead. Just a hint of toning. Only specimen of this date ever graded. Purchased from Louis Collins, November 1980." This type is listed for Bogotá 1868-71, Medellin 1868-72 and Popayán 1868-78. The reported weight seems off for a coin the size of a half dime.

Recorded mintage: 100,000.

Specification: 1.25 g, 0.666 fine silver, .026 troy oz ASW, this specimen Ø23 mm, 5.08 g, 6h axis.

Catalog reference: KM 150.1.
