Heritage sale 3106, lot 33965

This specimen was lot 33965 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $4,200. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Mexico: Republic gold 20 Pesos 1878 Mo-M MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint. A scarce date of this popular type, with only one known at NGC in a higher state of preservation. Admitting only a few flaws even to the scrupulous eye, an appealing amber tone amplifies the aesthetic caliber of the piece." The Mexico City mint was the largest producer of gold twenty pesos, striking them 1870-1905.
