Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Guanajuato is fairly common. This specimen was lot 9188 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, “MEXICO. Guanajuato. 50 Centavos, 1887-GoR. NGC MS-61.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 18,000.
