This specimen was lot 31228 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 4 Escudos 1827 Mo-JM AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint. Choice About Uncirculated and very attractive for this much scarcer date, on which Long commented: 'a very rare coin...extremely difficult to find in well struck, undamaged condition.' The present specimen should clearly be considered well above average for the issue. From The FoxLair Collection." This specimen is one of a series struck 1825-69 at Mexico City.
