This specimen was lot 22396 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1792-IJ, AU55 NGC, well-struck details on a broad flan, nicely toned with original luster in the legends and no flan flaws. A great type example for this series." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos.
