This specimen was lot 73360 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Real, 1792-L IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV. PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield. Large bust type. Tied with just one other example as the finest in the PCGS census, this lightly handled and deeply toned piece stands as an excellent minor from early in the reign of Charles IV." This locally designed bust was used at Lima 1791-92 only.
