This specimen was lot 73447 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Oaxaca. 50 Centavos, 1915-TM. NGC MS-62. Variety with 7th bust. A sharp and lustrous example of this Revolutionary issue with steely gray surfaces." During the Mexican Revolution, the state of Oaxaca declared itself neutral and withdrew from all military activity. The governor ordered coins struck with the effigy of native son Benito Juarez, died in 1872. The handmade dies led to many varieties; the SCWC lists KM 734, 735, 736, 737 and 739 for the fifty centavos.
