Ponterio sale 159, lot 9165

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is rare, priced in the SCWC at nine times a common Guanajuato date. The other assayer, M, is common. This specimen was lot 9165 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1875-DoH. Very scarce date. A few light scratches, one small edge flaw. FINE.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
