This specimen was lot 3878 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $164.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Austria. Taler, ND (Hall). Archduke Ferdinand, 1564-1595. Crowned bust holding sword and orb right. Reverse: Crowned arms in U shaped Order chain. Adjustment marks, edge nicks and reverse surface environmental damage. Very Fine." Davenport notes a considerable number of thalers and multiple thalers struck for the archduke, Dav-8088 thru Dav-8103, all without dates. None are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but reasonably common.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-8101.
