This specimen was lot 50316 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, ND (1564-95). Hall Mint. NGC MS-63. Ferdinand Erzher[z]og (1564-95). Nice eye appeal with light toning beginning in legend and periphery devices. Small planchet defect on rim at 3 o'clock." Davenport notes a considerable number of thalers and multiple thalers struck for the archduke, Dav-8088 thru Dav-8103, all without dates. None are rare.
