This specimen is a slightly scarce date of a series struck 1869-90 at the San Luis Potosi mint, which closed in 1893. The SCWC notes a repunched mintmark, "Pi/Zs", and a rare assayer "B." This twenty-five centavos piece replaced the two reales struck since colonial times. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller twenty centavos piece in 1898.

Specification: 6.77 g, .903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 92,000.

Catalog reference: KM 406.8.
