This specimen was lot 1321 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $884.78. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Silver Ducat, 1676. PCGS AU-50 Secure Holder. Struck at the private mint of Dirk Husch in Enkhuizen. Pearl gray patina with legends highlighted by darker tones." Silver ducats were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. The basic type runs 1659-1794. This subtype was struck 1673-78 along with lion daalders (Dav-4870), rijksdaalder (Dav-4842), ducatons (Dav-4941) and three gulden (Dav-4961). The regular issue of 1659-87 (Dav-4906) is not nearly so round and well struck.
