This specimen was lot 4151 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Lion Daalder (48 Stuivers), 1648. NGC AU Details--Surface Hairlines. Lily mintmark. Unevenly struck. Attractive light grey toning and nice luster." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Westfriesland for 1606-1700 with various mintmarks.
