The leeuwendaalder and its half are famous in the numismatic world as being some of the worst struck coins in history. Most of the provinces and several of the cities struck them from the 1570's until the end of the seventeenth century. This subtype with the shield mintmark was struck 1635-52. Leeuwendaalders with a rosette mintmark (KM 32.1) also exist for 1648.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.68 g, 0.750 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Delm-845 var; V. 107.4 var; Dav-4863, KM 30 (shield mintmark).
