Schulman 389-134r.jpg

This specimen was lot 134 in Schulman auction 389 (Amsterdam, December 2025), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "German States - 2/3 Thaler 1744, Silver, FRIEDRICH AUGUST II 1733-1763, SACHSEN Armored bust right. Rev. two crowned shields. Ex Cherry Tree Collection. PCGS MS62." This type was struck 1734-62 with considerable variation in the reverse during its production run. The SCWC states the weight should be 19.2 g, which is wrong. By this time, the gulden or two-thirds thaler weighed only half a thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.8 g, silver, this specimen 13.68 g.

Catalog reference: KM 879, Dav-830; Kahnt 545.
