Künker sale 293, lot 1227

This specimen was lot 1227 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €320 (about US$431 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August II. 1733-1763. 2/3 Taler 1738, Dresden, auf die Vermählung seiner Tochter Maria Amalia mit König Karl von Sizilien. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus II, 1733-63, two-thirds thaler of 1738, Dresden mint, on the marriage of his daughter Maria Amalia to king Charles of Sicily. handsome patina, very fine.)"

Charles of Sicily later became Charles III of Spain. This commemorative is fairly scarce and is accompanied by a ducat (Fr-2852a) and a double groschen (KM 891).
