Künker sale 406, lot 4378

This specimen was lot 4378 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,099 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August II. 1733-1763. Reichstaler 1738, Dresden. Sehr schön +. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus II, 1733-63, thaler of 1738, Dresden mint. Very fine or better.)"

This type was issued every year 1734-56 but it is not common, like most Saxon thalers of the period 1660-1760. Frederick Augustus II was also king of Poland.
