Saxony 1744-FWoF 1/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 2712 in Sincona sale 57 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$684 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND | Sachsen, Kurfürstentum, Friedrich August II. 1733-1763. 1/3 Taler 1744, Dresden. Seltener Jahrgang. Gutes vorzüglich. Herrliche Patina. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus II, 1733-63, one-third thaler of 1744, Dresden mint. Rare date, Good extremely fine, Most attractive patina.)"
This type is noted for 1734-56 altho this date is not listed in the SCWC. This design was also used for the one-sixth thaler (KM 890), two-thirds thaler (KM 879) and thaler (Dav-2665).
