Künker Auction 426, lot 3795

This specimen was lot 3795 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,150 (about US$1,629 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich August II., 1733-1763. 2/3 Taler 1747, Dresden, auf die Vermählung seiner Tochter Maria Josefa mit dem Dauphin Louis von Frankreich. Feine Tönung, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus II, 1733-63, two thirds thaler of 1747, Dresden mint, on the marriage of Princess Maria Josepha to the Dauphin Louis of France. Fine toning, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This is one of several matrimonial commemoratives issued in that year. By this time, the gulden or two-thirds thaler weighed only half a thaler.
