Saxony 1747 2 groschen KM-917
This specimen was lot 47166 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 2 Groschen, 1747. Dresden Mint. Fredrich August II. PCGS AU-55. From the Collection of Kazmier Wysocki, former mayor of Hackensack, New Jersey." This commemorative is listed twice in the SCWC, as a double groschen (KM 917) and as a 1/12 thaler (KM 923). Another double groschen (KM 918/924) was struck in 1747 to mark the marriage of Prince Friedrich Christian. The two are priced the same. The regular 1/12 thaler of 1734-63 was KM 877. The bridegroom was Louis, Dauphin of France (1729-65), the elder and only surviving son of King Louis XV and his wife, Queen Marie Leszczyńska.
