Künker sale 335, lot 4271

This specimen was lot 4271 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €650 (about US$851 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM. Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. 1/8 Reichstaler 1617, Dresden, auf die 100-Jahrfeier der Reformation. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George I, 1615-56, one-eighth thaler of 1617, Dresden mint, on the centennial of the reformation. Beautifully toned example, extremely fine.)"

This commemorative was one of a series ranging from one-eighth thaler to four ducats.
