This specimen was lot 73440 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1858-CNB OB. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. The alluringly choice, steel gray example presents a high degree of radiant brilliance and some shimmering luster throughout, while a subtle golden-russet tone adds further charm." The twenty-five kopeks superseded the polupoltinnik (quarter ruble) last coined in 1810. This type was struck at St. Petersburg 1832-58 (C166.1) and Warsaw 1854, 1857 (C166.2).

Recorded mintage: 5,528,000 including a few without assayer.
