This specimen was lot 43917 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,500. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Poltina, 1858-CNB OB. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Second finest certified of the date at PCGS with only one finer (MS-66), tied for third finest certified at NGC with two other examples only surpassed by a single MS-66 and MS-67. RARE in this state of preservation. Razor sharp strike with stunning dark rainbow toning. A stunning example with an explosive bouquet of colors." Altho struck in much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck 1832-58 has a lower catalog value. Proofs exist for some dates.

Recorded mintage: 1,112,000.

Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver, .289 troy oz ASW, 28.5 mm diameter.
