Russia 1857-MW 25 kopeks
This specimen was lot 31771 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander II 25 Kopecks 1857-MW MS63 Prooflike NGC, Warsaw mint. Obv. Crowned double-headed eagle holding orb and scepter with a beaded circle. Rev. Crowned date and value in wreath. Superbly struck with deeply mirrored fields. Like marks are noted on both sides with attractive reddish-gold patina. An extremely rare issue in all grades and this is the single example certified as Prooflike with no other examples given a higher numerical grade." Although this type was struck in large quantities at St. Petersburg, it was struck at Warsaw 1854 and 1857 only. Both dates are rare.
