Künker sale 335, lot 5396

This specimen was lot 5396 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,832 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND, KAISERREICH, Alexander II. 1855-1881. Ku.-3 Kopeken 1857, Ekaterinburg. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 266, Osnabrück 2015, Nr. 2395. (empire of Russia, Alexander II, 1855-81, copper three kopeks of 1857, Ekaterinburg mint. Rare in this condition, cabinet piece, beautiful patina, about uncirculated.)"

This type was struck at Warsaw (quite scarce) and at Ekaterinburg (shown here) 1850-59.

Recorded mintage: 4,726,000.

Specification: 15.36 g, copper, 32 mm diameter, this specimen 14.52 g.
