Künker sale 335, lot 5368

This specimen was lot 5368 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,309 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND, KAISERREICH, Nikolaus I. 1825-1855. Rubel 1826, St. Petersburg. R Min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich. (empire of Russia, Nicholas I, 1825-55, ruble of 1826, St. Petersburg mint. Scarce, minor rim bumps, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1810-26 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The succeeding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a modified eagle.

Recorded mintage: 730,000 for all varieties, a scarce date.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 20.75 g.
