Sincona sale 99, lot 176

This specimen was lot 176 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Nicholas I. 1825-1855, 10 Kopecks 1826, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Selten. (empire of Russia, Nicholas I. 1825-1855, ten kopeks of 1826, St. Petersburg mint, Eagle with wings up. Rare. NGC MS63.)"

Two types of silver ten kopeks were struck in 1826; C127, wings up, struck 1810-26; and KM C157, with the eagle's wings down, struck 1826-31. The wings down type is scarcer than the wings up type.

Recorded mintage: 2,049,999 including an 1826/5 overdate and KM C157.

Specification: 2.07 g, 0.868 fine silver, 17.65 mm diameter, lettered edge, this specimen 10.23 g.
