This specimen was lot 30598 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I silver 10 Kopecks 1827 CПБ-HГ MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Obv. Crowned doubled-headed eagle, with wings down, with date below. Rev. Crowned value in wreath. Superbly struck, with fully prooflike fields beneath gun-metal gray toning with amber and teal highlights. A spectacular example, and none have been certified finer." This type is listed for 1826-31 and is rather scarcer than the succeeding type (KM C164.1). Copper ten kopeks (= grivennik) were also struck in the 1830's.

Recorded mintage: 1,290,000.

Specification: 2.07 g, 0.868 fine silver.
