Sincona sale 84, lot 266

This specimen was lot 266 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$2,020 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 20 Kopecks 1826, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Rare in this condition. PCGS MS62. Nice toning."

This type was struck 1826-31 and is fairly common. For the first part of 1826, the design showed the eagle's wings up (KM C128), which type is slightly more common for the year.

Recorded mintage: 2,815,000 including KM C128 (wings up).

Specification: 4.14 g, 0.868 fine silver.
