Sincona sale 11, lot 2503

This specimen was lot 2503 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,228 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RUSSLAND Alexander I. 1801-1825. 20 Kopeken 1823, St. Petersburg. NGC MS63. FDC. (Russia, Alexander I, 1801-25, twenty kopeks of 1823, St. Petersburg mint, NGC 63.)"

This type is listed for 1810-26 and has a low catalog value in circulated condition. Overdates 1823/1 and 1823/18 are recorded for the year.

Recorded mintage: 7,075,000.

Specification: 4.14 g, 0.868 fine silver, 22.1 mm diameter, .115 troy oz ASW.
