This specimen was lot 32142 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $3,480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Nicholas I gold 5 Roubles 1826 CПБ-ПД AU55 PCGS, St. Petersburg mint, Obv. Crowned Imperial eagle with wings down and date below. Rev. Crowned four-line inscription within wreath. Abundant remaining mint luster, with a bold strike and minor marks. A very rare issue, especially so in this near-mint condition." This type was struck 1826-31 and is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 212,000.

Specification: 6.54 g, 0.917 fine gold.
